JINDAIJI TEMPLE

We went to Jindaiji area, which is located  in the surburbs of Tokyo. There are two famous things in this area. One is the temple another is buckwheat nuddle.

This temple was built originally in 733AD. It is said that this temple's name came from a Bahmanism God.
The god is Jinja Daioh. So this temple called Jindaiji temple.

The gate of this temple. This gate is called Yakui-mon gate.

The approuch to this temple.

This map was written in 1834AD. This is almost same the above photo.

This building is called Ganzan Daishi-Doh, very near the temple.

The stone statue of Ganzandaishi. It is said that he is also a Bahmamism god.

There is a Buddha statue in a building in this precincts. This statue was built Hakuou period, namely between 645AD to 710AD. The sitting Buddha statue is very rare in Japan.

Therefore, this temple has very strong influence  by people from overseas, especially from Korea.

The season of tinted autumnal leaves just started in this area.

There were many Hototogisu flowers in full bloom.

There was a buckwheat field for sightseeing.

We ate the buckwheat lunch near Jindaiji Temple. This area was very famous for buckwheat reatraunts to Edo people in Edo goverment period.

There were 6 chestnut trees. All of the trees had a diameter of 1 meter. they had stood at intervals of 4.2 meters. There was a big meeting place by the six trees.

Archeologists thought houses were built like above photo.

A beautiful Earthware had been found.

This one is also beautiful.

The very rare board shaped clay figure had found too.
This figure clay is the biggest in this remains, the height is 30 cm.

A few decades ago, archeologists had thought these earthwares and clay figures were
worthless as fine arts.

But Taro Okamoto insisted repeatedly that they were very valuable as fine arts.

Many people came to notice that the earthwares and clay figures were very valuable
as fine art.

So nowadays, Earthwares and Clay figures became Representative fine arts in Japan.

After that Taro Okamoto made a symbol tower of EXPO '70, which is known as a tower of the Sun.

Many people would feel the big influence of the clay figures of prehistoric age in his tower.

Looking this six chestnut tree building,it is very fantastic to imagine what kind of life they spent
in prehistoric period.
