A CHASTLE IN SAITAMA

We went to see a castle and ancient tombs at Gyoda city in Saitama prefecture.

足袋の町、埼玉県の行田市に日帰りの旅をしてきました。

忍城(御三階櫓、復元)です。
 
 
There is a armor group in this city. They performed a short play for us.
This girl played a part of Kai-Hime princess.Kai-Hime princess was a daughter of the first lord of this castle.
 
この城の前で、おもてなし甲冑隊が寸劇を披露してくれました。
この女性は初代城主、成田親泰の娘、甲斐姫です。
 
 
They belong to the armor group.
 
これらの人が、おもてなし甲冑隊です。
 
And then we went to see ancient tombs at this city.
 
それからさきたま古墳群を見学しました。
 
 
Inari-Yama ancient tomb.
 
稲荷山古墳です。
 
 
Maruhaka-Yama ancient tomb.
 
丸墓山古墳です。
 
 
Hutago-Yama ancient tomb.
 
二子山古墳です。
 
There are 9 big ancient tombs and other ancient tombs, total about 40 tombs in this area.
It is not assigned who were buried.
This area is called Sakitama ancient tombs.Saitama prefecture is named from Sakitama.
These ancient tombs have made from 5th century to 7th century.
 
ここ、さきたま古墳群には9個の大古墳を含めると約40の古墳が有ります。
埼玉県の名称はこの「さきたま」が起源です。
5世紀から7世紀にかけて作られたと言われてます。
 
 
There are many clay images in Museum of Sakitama Ancient Burial Mounds.
 
県立さきたま史跡の博物館には多くの埴輪が展示されています。

  6. I really really enjoyed this post because I love to see haniwa and dogu. Unfortunately, I've never been to the Sakitama mounds. I'd love to visit the place!!

    Is this near the famous 古代蓮の里? I've always wanted to go to that garden. Maybe this summer! ^^

      ① Ueno 07:48---Gyouda 08:49 by JR Takasaki line
        Gyouda 09:05---Mizushiro Kouenmae 09:20 By City Loop Bus (Counterclockwise Bus)
      Oshi castle is just near Mizushiro Kouenmae.
      Then You need to walk about 40minutes to go to Ancient Tombs. And Then need to walk about 40minuted to Kodai-Hasu no Sato.
      Kodai-Hasu no Sato Bus Stop 14:35------14:57 Gyouda Railway Station By City Loop Bus (Clockwise)

      ②Ueno 11:30------Gyouda 12:29 By JR Takasaki line.
      Gyouda12:50-----Mizushiro Kouenmae 12:59 By City Loop Bus
      Then Walk and walk.
      Kodai-Hasu no Sato16:50-----Gyouda Railway Station 17:12 By City Loop Bus (Clockwise)

      I hope you will enjoy Gyoda sightseeing.
      Kodai-Hasu will bloom from at the end of June to at the begining of August.

  13. 「琴を弾く男性の埴輪」は初めて見ましたが、ユニークで面白いですね。写真では
    「おもてなし甲冑隊」の甲斐姫の表情がGOODです。シャッター・チャンスが素晴らしい。行田は「古代ハスの里」を訪問しましたが、来年は「さぎたまの火祭り」を見てみたいと思ってます。
